Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Matthew is a Licensed Professional Counselor with extensive experience providing therapy tailored to the unique needs of men, adolescent boys, and their families. His practice focuses on addressing the impact of masculinity on mental health, fostering resilience, and empowering clients to achieve meaningful change.
With over a decade of experience in diverse mental health settings, Matthew has trained and worked in outpatient psychiatry clinics, academic medical centers, community health clinics, university counseling centers, group private practices, non-profit organizations, and inpatient and residential psychiatric treatment facilities. This diverse background has allowed him to develop expertise in addressing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational challenges, stress reduction, and life transitions. Matthew integrates a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, ensuring care that is personalized, practical, and culturally informed to meet the unique needs of each client.
Matthew’s research and clinical interests focus on the impact of gender roles and cultural values on men’s cognitive, emotional, and psychological development across the lifespan. He explores how masculinity intersects with gender roles, cultural values, relationships, acculturative stress, ethnic identity development, and fatherhood. Matthew remains dedicated to advancing quality clinical care and helping clients navigate life’s challenges with confidence and clarity.
